Other then changing the date and times, this is an original Easter Sunday
post from about a decade ago. I hope that you get a chuckle out of this
re-run.
Adios Peter Cottontail, Here Comes The Ether Bunny!
By Duane B. Fischer, W8DBF
For those who celebrate Easter, let me wish you a most
blessed, joyous and reflective day. For those who do not,
feel free to viciously bite the head off a chocolate bunny
with the protective foil still on or join the local jelly
bean spitting for distance contest. In either case, have a
great Sunday.
Rumor has it, that Frogzilla himself is traveling with the
Ether Bunny this year. Which means, you should candle any egg
that exited the south end of a chicken, got hard boiled like
Aunt Ruela's pot roast and then was dipped in 'safe' coloring
solution that makes fire engine red look like pale pink with
a blush! He has been known to hand paint jelly beans to
confuse human taste buds into believing that lime green is
supposed to taste like cinnamon and that purple is supposed
to taste like sour lemon. But when he starts stuffing those
raw Tortoise eggs into the Cadbury egg wrappers, it is fun to
watch humans take a big bite in front of their family, get
this big delicious smile on their face, turn more white than
Casper the ghost and then hurl into the pot containing the
Easter Lily!
Worst of all, is the pamphlet he leaves in farm children's
baskets telling them how to stuff the Easter eggs back into
the chickens!
Join me for the April 24th HHI Easter Sunday 20 meter Net.
The doctors said that if I promise to stay on my medications,
and avoid sharp objects like silverware, I can come home for
the weekend. The pre-Net will commence at 12:30 PM EDT,
(1630 UTC), with a short video clip of a city park in
downtown Buffalo, NY where children participating in an
Easter egg hunt got a whiff of jelly bean scented sewer gas
and started flinging the hard boiled eggs at park rangers
patrolling on a golf cart decorated to look like a giant
rabbit with front teeth large enough to make a Beaver on
growth enhancing steroids proud! Even if you can't see the
clip on your vintage Hallicrafters TV, you will still get a
rush out of the audio!
The Net proper will begin at 1:00 PM EDT, (1700 UTC), with
the Dixie Chicks singing a stirring rendition of "Here Comes
Peter Cottontail" while sniffing Helium to give their voices
that ether sound like one of those Disney animatronic
critters.
The frequency will be 14.293 Mhz usb +/- for key clicks, mike
splatter and the happy sound of billions of tooth decay germs
dancing like they had Mexican jumping beans in their boxer
shorts, as millions of children devour enough chocolate
covered marshmallow rabbits to fill up the Grand Canyon!
Never trust a neighbor who gets their kids a live bunny for
Easter and names it 'Lunch'!
Remember, Easter Sunday is the day when a name will be
randomly drawn from the Hallicrafters hat, supposedly
stolen by a former employee who snatched it from the visitor
display area during a mock fire drill! The winning name to
receive a beautiful like new original Hallicrafters log book
donated by W0BBC, Mike Chatfield. You must be present to win!
If the NCS can not hear you, nor can anyone relay your call
to the NCS, then e-mail me or call me on the tx.
I hope to hear many of you on Easter Sunday to commemorate
the wonders of those things that still go glow in the dark.
And I am not speaking about irradiated eggs from experiments
done by the government in the fifties! Remember it is in
bad taste to bite the face off the chocolate rabbit or bite
off the extremities first! But it is permissible to bite off
the ears one at a time and then break the chocolate bunny in
half and dunk it in hot coffee or hot chocolate before
cramming it into your mouth. And remember to not set that
handful of assorted jelly beans on top of the Hallicrafters
equipment! That is unless you wish to give the phrase 'melt
down' a new meaning!
