I'm picking up a 1/4 Kw 4-250 AM rig this weekend.  I'm taking along a couple of old bunk bed mattresses to lay on the floor of the truck to give it a nice soft ride.  I can't stand it upright because it would be to high (7 ft) and not stable in the back of my pickup, at least as far as i am concerned.  What i am curious about is whether or not it would be best to lay it on the front or on it's back.  Wouldn't think laying on it's side would be an option because of the uneven load placed on the heavier components on the different shelves.  All panels are mounted firmly to the front of the rack/cabinet and its' a sturdy arrangement.  We are going to remove the heavy power supply components and possibly the modulator shelf as well.
 
Hopefully we've though of everything but if you've got some suggestions i'll take notes.  Don't want to hurt this baby as it's a HB job and extremely nice.
 
On a second note, i have a wooden rack or cabinet or whatever you want to call it where the framework is made from 2X2 wood but very stout. It has a pair of power supplies on the bottom shelves that were for the start of a 1935-1938 series transmitter.  They also are buillt using that era type construction on wooden boards and above that mounted components.  The HV power supply uses 866 jr type tubes.  If anyone is interested in this, since i'm going to the LA area, i would be more than happy to haul this that direction for you.  some gas money consideration would help offsetting the $4+ price for unleaded over there.
