[Boatanchors] Vintage Sideband (and AM too!) Nets

Hi Jeff,
There are several such lists already. However, the last I knew, they were
not current. One, in fact, was many years out of date.
The problem with doing such a list is that it is not fixed. They change
monthly, sometimes weekly. Trying to keep up with every 'new' gathering or
formal Net would be a losing battle.
Generally speaking, the better Nets last for many years, so that list would
be relatively fixed, not static. However, the others come and go constantly.
The Vintage SSB Net has been around since about 1995? The Hallicrafters Net
since 1997. I took the NCS in March of 1999 when VE4WI, Craig Winchar,
became ill.
I know the Heathkit, Drake and Collins Nets have been around quite a few
years also.
I may not be correct on this, but the ARRL did have a listing on their web
site for such Nets. It was not specific to vintage Nets, rather 'all' radio
Nets! Unfortunately when I last checked some years ago it was not being
updated. More the fault of the various Nets NCS then the editors for the
ARRL web site!
I should mention that there is a Vintage Net on the first Wednesday of each
month!
Probably the best way to find out what is available currently would be to
check into the major vintage nets and ask.
Duane, W8DBF
I would offer to do such a list OM, but after the stroke that nearly killed
me I have decided to spend less time on volunteer work and more time
enjoying what time I have left. There are plenty of others out there who
could do such a list better then I could. Maybe one will step up to the
plate.
