Hi Folks,
This is sort of an "aside" to the topic. I once worked for a guy named Stuart Hegeman, who had worked for Harmon Kardon in developing their "Citation" line and also for Dynaco on their FM tuner. Well, he started his own basement manufacturing in his house making a unique loudspeaker system. The design goals were low cost to the consumer and high acoustic performance at low input power levels.
The speaker housing was a box of particle board with eight individual tuned chambers within. The driver we manufactured "in house" and it was mounted on top,at an angle, with a high density foam bowl shaped reflector mounted above it and housing a Norelco "SuperTweeter". I tooled the speaker cones on a special rotating die out of 4 mil annealed aluminum foil. The backside was "flocked" to eliminate the metalic ring of the finished cone.
The "box" with its eight chambers made a broad band response when coupled to the driver. The driver cone was subsequently divided into non resonant sections relative to the acoustic chambers.
(Does this make sense? It was back in the summer of '72 when I did this @ $2.00/hr.for a summer job.)
I still have a pair of these and they make a 10 watt rms/channel stereo sound like a concert hall.
What you can do with wood, metal, rubber and glue!

Many thanks to all who responded to this thread. I will be researching the
uggested sites and see what I can come up with that will fit my situation.
Nice to have a group of guys who can help with failing "senior
itizen"memories such as mine at crucial times!
73 to all,
