[Boatanchors] Heathkit Q-Multiplier With Drake 2-B Receiver

I've recently come into possession of a nice Drake 2-B receiver. It
came with no accessories, and I'd like to find a Q-multiplier for it.
Unfortunately, the Drake 2-BQ units seem to be made of gold these days.
The ones I've seen on E-Pay are bringing $150 or more (more than I paid
for the receiver!).

Over the years, Heathkit produced a Q-multiplier kit under at least 3
model numbers (GD-125, HD-11, QF-1). All were fundamentally the same
design, but with different packaging. They show up from time to time on
E-Pay at very reasonable prices (at least compared to the Drake unit).
I'd like to know how these Heath units compare to the Drake 2-BQ. It
would seem that a Q-multiplier designed for a 455 kHz IF frequency
should be effective if connected into the circuit at the 455 kHz IF
point (between the 2nd and 3rd mixers in the 2-B), but there may be
other issues I'm not considering. Anyone ever used a Heathkit
Q-multiplier with a Drake 2-B? Good idea? Bad idea?

I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions any of you might have.

Thanks,
Mike Harmon, WB0LDJ
