  Okey dokey... I give... using the "homemade tips" may not damage your 
gun.
Still the commercial made ones are best and last longer.

And if you don't have any proper tips and need to make one out of 
wire....... then I'd do it...  HI.  But I'd order some good tips too....

My homemade tip is about 10" length and bends to one side; within the flexibility of all connections to the board I can lift up one edge and reach underneath with my custom tip.  Saves much time and effort, and reduces risk of damage from desoldering and resoldering the other connections.
