[Boatanchors] Tube tongs

Rob's leather glove idea is a good one for hot tubes AND also for tubes that are difficult to remove. When I was a young novice I remember one of the old timers came to a club meeting with a heavily bandaged hand. He had cut it trying to wrestle the 7F8 "loctal" osc/mixer tube out of his Hallicrafters SX-62. He squeezed on the tube hard enough to break the glass envelope and did further damage jerking his hand back and hitting the side of the receiver case. That made a big impression on me because the SX-62 was my first "real" receiver and I had one at the time.

maybe you can put on a leather glove, the type that has cotton lining inside
and pull the hot one with that--be ready to plug it in to the tube tester
right away and you won't handle it very long.

I'd be afraid I'd grip it too tight with the tong and break it.

I got the glove idea from wearing leather work gloves to pull a hot oil
filter that was right under an exhaust manifold and I didn't want to get
burned by the manifold.
