Actually, aside from volunteering instead of waiting for the draft, I didn't
choose any of it but, even knowing the outcome ahead of time, I'd do it over
again in a heartbeat - even getting the medical (physical) waivers needed so
I could join the Navy. (These have no connection with my disability rating,
by the way.)

I fixed this problem. I wrote up my psych history (including evals) and had
it put in my permanent file plus I carry a fresh updated copy with me every
time I go. It saves a lot of time and frustration.

Since I've had the same PCP since arriving in Hawaii, the physical part
hasn't been so much a problem. She's a delightful English lady and I'm part
Irish (and can bring up a brogue on cue), and we get along famously but,
alas, she's retiring and I've in for pot luck for a new PCP.

[BA content] During one of my visits to the clinic, I got to talking with a
couple other Nam era vets, one of whom was a radioman. We got to talking
about captured equipment and I described my ChiCom 102E to him. He laughed
and told me to punch holes in the back so I can wire the Rx & Tx together
just like they were when they were all in the same pack and I'd have
something pretty close to an RT-77/GRC-9. The coverage wasn't exactly the
same but it would work about the same. He emphasized "about" so I'm sure
there will be a few things I'll discover later on. He also said I was lucky
not to have the hand crank generator because it was a [censored phrase] fit
only to give butter bars some exercise.

While not a BA (it's all solid state), I also mentioned my type 339 receiver
and he'd never seen one so couldn't help me with translating the panel.

Best regards,
