[Boatanchors] Apology

I’m told I owe Al Parker an apology for what has been seen as a personal
attack. While it wasn’t intended as such, I’ve re-read my last message and
can see how that would be the case so, yes, I do apologize.

What I do NOT apologize for is what was said. The particular “you”
indicated was supposed to be explicitly plural not singular (indicating I
should proofread better before hitting “send”) and was directed at everyone
who cannot see their way clear to contribute rather than complain. There
are names we all know, the ones whose only “contribution” is to complain
when there’s a thread *they* don’t like or goes on longer than *they* think
it should. These are the ones who have such a narrow worldview that they
cannot possibly include, even for a moment, subjects they don’t like. They
refuse to even try to learn something new and do their best to force others
to their view of the world.

As I think about it, I find I pity them their empty little lives. They
don’t contribute because they have nothing so they justify their existence
through protest. There are also those who take themselves way too
seriously, thus guaranteeing no one else will, and find fault even when they
do manage to contribute in some way. Theirs is the *only* way in their
minds and in their Pronouncements From On High but, while it may or may not
be a valid one, it most certainly is not without alternatives in the real
world.

Do we see a trend here? I certainly do and it’s ugly. Maybe it’s the
economy or “global warming” or some arcane planetary alignment or some other
external influence. Or maybe – just maybe – it’s because those few simply
have nothing better.

In any event, if people don’t like what I have to say, they have two
options, they can put me on ignore or they can observe the aforementioned
mistletoe. Which they do doesn’t really matter to me.

Again, I do apologize for what was taken as a direct attack on Mr. Parker
which I hope someone will relay to him since, if he followed my preference,
he has me on ignore.

Further discussion here or in private email will be dumped unread.

Best regards,
