There were plenty of obscure terms available to Hertz instead of screwing up 
one of the most used a century after the fact. He should have stayed buried.

The ultimate tribute to a scientist is to become "part of the furniture".
To that end physical laws and units are named after the greatest of the
great:

Volt
Ampere
Ohm
Watt
Henry
Farad(ay)
Joule
Oersted
Maxwell
Siebert
Newton
Jansky
etc.

I see no reason why Hertz should be any different, the lone holdout.
