My 100V still has the 6AU4 tubes I installed shortly before I sold it in
1992 and bought it back a little over 2 weeks ago. It was used very little
as Id also sold him a 200V which he restored and uses regularly. Personally,
I much prefer the 100V and had only used the 200V in the second station for
multiplier chasing while contesting. Both had modified 75A4's and NCL-2000
amps. I still have one of each.
Modern diodes havent required equalizing resistors in decades and Id much
prefer 1N5408's if I were inclined to go SS in any rig. However with the
high line voltage of today and the higher B+ from SS, Id tend to not want to
stress the 6550's any more than they already are. Ive seen what audiophools
are paying for real USA made Tung Sols!
My own energies are restuffing the electrolytics top and bottom to preserve
the appearance. The prior owner had installed a repainted and screened front
panel, it looks better than when I first purchased the rig in 1965.

Here's what I did for my CE-100V that uses two 6AU4.
http://www.w2hx.com/x/CE-100V/Schematic.pdf (shows how I connected the
diodes and resistors)
Here are some photos.
http://www.w2hx.com/x/CE-100V (look at them in sequence to see how I
assembled it)
final picture is them installed in the CE-100V transmitter. Hope this
helps!

Morning Ken!!
Easiest way to do that is to use a octal tube base that has pins 2, 5 and
8
and put 1N4007 diodes in there. I've been doing that for years. If you
need
more current capability, then use some 3 amp diodes rated at 1000VDC.
That's
what you'll have if you get some potted equivalents for the rectifiers you
mentioned. Put some silicone in the hole to insulate the diode and you are
there!!

Fellows,
I need recommented solid state replacements for the 5U4 and 6X4
tubes. Thanks,
