The Dayton Hamvention 2010, if you missed it, was a super event. What made
it especially great was the fine weather that we had on Friday and Saturday.
The crowd seemed larger than last year but the outdoor vendor area had an
unusually high number of empty spaces. I am at 2325-2326 and there were
five vacant spaces to the right of me, for instance.
Lots of used gear appeared in the fleamarket at very reasonable prices.
NC-183D, Central Electronics 200V, SX-71, 75A-4, Hallicrafter SX-100, and so
on .... However, there seemed to be an absence of Collins equipment,
particularly, the S-Line and KWM-2s. No KWS-1s were spotted.
We had over 60 in attendance at the Collins Forum on Saturday afternoon in
Room 3. Ted Craven, W5USI, presented a slide program on the maintenance
and restoration of the KWM-2. If you would like a copy of his presentation
on DVD, email him at W5USI at yahoo.com If he is available next year, we hope
to have him as our guest presenter again at the Collins Forum. He did a
super job and had a strong round of applause at the end. Ted, as you may
know, is the associate editor of the Collins Journa and technical advisor
of the CRA. His lovely wife and daughter assisted him in setting up the
program, I might add.
For those that I met, it was most kind of you to stop by to say hello.
Perhaps, I will meet you at the Butler Hamfest on June 6th at Butler, PA
Thank you
