My RCA Receiving Tube Manual dated 2/70 does not show
any such tube. Are you sure ing for 6AQA8 instead of a
6AQ8A? Where did you find that tube I.D.?

I suspect that the Lafayette rig is Japanese-made and
Japanese-English instruction manuals were infamous for
their misprints, typos, etc.

The 6AQ8/6AQ8A were dual triodes, which would be consistent
with use as an combination audio amp/BFO function.

Triode #1 connections are: Cathode - 8, Grid - 7, Plate - 6
Triode #2 connections are: Cathode - 3, Grid - 2, Plate -1
Filament connections are: 3 and 4
Pin 9 is an internal shield.

"Normal" operation is at 250 VDC on plate, -2.3 VDC on grid.

Subject: [Boatanchors] Tube Identification Help Please

I'm helping a friend restore a Lafayette HA-225.

It has a 6AQA8 as the 1st AF amp/BFO. For the life
of me I can't find this tube's specs or where to find
a replacement. Of course, I can find the 6AQ8.

Any pointers on specs and sourcing a new one would be
most helpful.

Kind regards es 73,
