I parted out a dead TS-450SAT (controller board kaput from a leaking memory 
backup battery) for a YL white caner a couple of years ago.  I initially 
attempted to sell the complete radio for $200 but there were no takers.  The 
receipts from selling all the parts and pieces was $675, which enabled this 
lady to buy a good used TS-570.

In cases like this parting out makes sense.  However, when someone parts out 
a reasonably good rig which could be placed back in working order with a bit 
of work I see red, as do many on this list.  It uis unfortunate that greed 
prevails in the minds of some.
