I think it may be illegal to sell these, however.  There was a guy last year that got busted for making 10-20 watt AM transmitters for antique radio enthusiasts to broadcast to radios in their homes.  I read that in the FCC's Daily Digest.

It's not illegal to buy or own any such transmitter.
It's illegal to *use* it on-the-air.
We want to keep it this way.
Once Uncle Stupid makes it illegal to own one
type of transmitter, he'll soon find ways to abuse the 
power and will eventually get to your transmitters.
