[Boatanchors] DE-MAGNETIZING A METER

Never heard of "de-magnetizing" a meter.  Like Gary says, sounds like  
somebody messed with the springs to make it a zero center meter.

Or, maybe it actually IS a zero center instrument.  How does the scale  
read?
