Hi,
SP-600 is on my radar as a possible acquisition. Now I will know to look
for one with this crystal control option. The way it operates, as
described by other list members is the same as the crystal operation in
the HQ-145X (General Coverage) I owned once upon a time and the same as
the crystal operation in my Kenwood R-599. With the HQ-145 It was
possible to use one crystal on all of the bands But of
course...selecting a crystal for a net on one band might not necessarily
be useful on any of the other bands. With the 145 it was possible to
take advantage of imaging by tuning the radio front end to the image...
if the image was of any interest.
With my R-599 I can use the crystal control to operate the transmitter
(T-599) as well. Once again the front end has to be tuned to the desired
operating frequency but not via the main tuning dial. The RX has a
separate "peaking" control for that. Is there any transmitter that could
have been used in a transceive mode with an SP-600? Did anybody ever
homebrew the "glue" circuits to allow this kind of operation?

Bill KU8H
