[Boatanchors] ICOM 2AT

Hi,

My XYL got me a 2AT for my birthday in 1981 and I still have/use it. I
vote for the BP-4 solution. I run mine with NiMH cells but for field
work as with the emergency comm guys I take along AA alkaline cells. One
set of alkalines will usually bracket any such outing, unless you are
going to something like the Katrina relief effort. Then take a big sack
full of alkalines. I have a PL encoder from comm-spec installed in mine.

I used the case from a defunct nicad pack (BP5?) to build a regulator
and cord that I could use mobile from the 12 volt system in my truck. !4
volts when the engine is running is a bit more than a 2AT really wants.
I used a mobile antenna and a speaker/mic in the car. The 2At is old but
rugged and reliable.

Bill KU8H
