They actually survived even longer.  The Hallicrafters S-108 is nothing but a "reboxed" S-85 and the SX-110 is a "reboxed" SX-99.

The S-20R is from the lower end of the Halli line and selectivity, stability, and image rejection (20 meters and up) will be problematic.  I have several Halli's from that era (S-19, S-19R, S-20, S-20R, and S-22R) and they are good examples of basic radios from that era but you wouldn't want to use them as your main or everyday receiver.  I guess they are historically interesting because the S-20 basic circuit layout survived through the S-40 and later S-85 and SX-99 models.
