Not really a scam. More like techno-jewelery for wannabe geeks.
I had a sometime girl friend in the late 60s who had a part time business
making jewelery out of components. She made no attempt at working
circuitry, but did make necklaces, bracelets, and earings out of pretty
colored A-B resistors. They sold in the $2 to $4 range, I think, in
Harvard Square.
