11M was a popular mobile and general ragchew band in the NYC-LI area and I
operated a DX-100 and a Viking 1 there fairly often to a GP on my folks
roof.
After we lost the band many still used it in defiance. The FCC finally
issued a warning thru QST that no punishment would ensue but that it must
stop immediately. I soon became 2W1498 and used the Viking sparingly until
joining the Navy.
