Hi,
Somebody in this thread asserted that it's illegal to sell an amp
designed for 11 meters to a ham. That implies it's illegal for a ham to
own a non type accpepted 11 meter transmitter (or amp) of any kind.
Sorry dude. My DX100 covers 11 meters and so does my Johnson Ranger. I
have bought stuff made for illicit 11 meter operation and promptly redid
it for ham band use or stripped them for parts.
What's illegal is *USING* the crap on the air at 11 meters. At one time
the FCC put in writing (I think I read it on my commercial license) that
FCC licensees were trusted to not transmit where they don't belong. So
come on up and monitor my activities if you have nothing better to do.
You won't be finding me on 11 meters without a type accepted CB radio.
You coulda been fishing or playing with your grandkids:)
BTW... I use a CB radio and no call sign (that's just for the ham bands)
to talk to CBers. Many of them are good people (like everybody else) and
if you wanna talk to them you have to go on 11 meters. When the dingbats
get on... well my radio has an "off" switch.

Bill KU8H
