My core x-sect. area is 0.92 inch (Small rcvr xfmr) and is way off the left
side of that arrl nomograph.

If you have a copy of the ARRL handbook (pretty much any year). look in
the "Power Supplies" section in the front part of the handbook. They
have a nomograph that shows approximate power handling capacity in watts
given the cross-sectional area of the core. This will be in the section
which talks about windings, copper losses, inductances, etc.
