[Boatanchors] R390A problem resolved

I want to thank all of you that responded to my post on my R390A problem.  
You at least pointed me in the right direction. 
 
It turns out the cable from the VFO to the mixer (the cable connected  to 
J217) had a break in it. It must have been some old abrasion at the point  
where it comes through the chassis. I cannot imagine how, after all these 
years,  it finally open. But some careful spicing put it back together
