Jim Dream on at Radio shack for $10...Maybe for the transformer...We
manufacture those and my manufactured cost is more than that for speaker and
tranny...

Use a "70 volt" PA system matching transformer in reverse.  These
transformers have several taps on the primary winding, marked in watts.
For example, and if I remember correctly, using a "10 watt"
transformer,  the 10 watt tap is set to transform roughly 500 ohms to 8
ohms.  Such transformers can often be obtained for free from
scrapped-out PA system speakers - the transformers are riveted to the
side of the speaker frame.  Look for an office building being
remodeled.  New ones from radio shack are typically about $10.00.
