Hi, I just wanted to mention this 'tidbit' to those of us that collect Lafayette radios. I have many (all restored) and I feel that 'bang fer the buck', the Lafayette (Trio) radios can't be beat. No, they are NOT a Collins or a Drake R8B, but they don't cost a Kilobuck, either......

This week I finished a very nice HA-63A. Although the radio has never been touched with a screwdriver, I decided to forego an alignment. My experience with most older radios is that some of the alignment points will be spot on, but others will be off. Since 10 MHz was right on, I decided to skip this usual step.
However, the radio was quite hard of hearing, despite a complete recap. It was 'deaf' before the recap. ha ha

I decided to install a small "CB" type preamp. You can read all the details on eHam 'reviews' under:

"99 Electronics" or "621 preamp". These are almost identical and work wonders on these older 'simple' radios.......

I will answer any questions you might have and I am NOT associated with these companies in ANY way! Just a VERY happy customer.

have fun!!
