I actually agree with this, Rob. I don't think sniping is unethical;
it is the system as it is currently set-up, and one must deal
with what is. But I think the "add a couple of minutes after
every bid" is a better system. Not when I'm buying, but
I'd live with that, since part of the way I feed my kids
is through Ebay and it would help sellers.
That actually helps us collectors as well, since
the higher prices would bring more goodies that
are now going to the dump onto the market.
We can't have everything- we trade one thing off
for another. Slightly higher prices to eliminate
the need for sniping and bringing more goodies is,
IMHO, a fair trade.
In the mean time, things are as they are,
and sniping is the way to go.
