[Boatanchors] Relay Repair - Demagnetization Question

Relays are designed with very low coercivity
(or remnance) cores. There is no need to ever
demagnetize a relay.

Subject: [Boatanchors] Relay Repair - Demagnetization Question

Hi:

I was wondering if anyone has used an electric demagnetizing tool to remove residual magnetization effects from the relays we use in our boatanchor radio stuff.
Sometimes after re-newing a relay, I've noticed that the relay action is still not just right and no amount of additional mechanical work will help.
Do you think and old cassette head demagnitizer would help? That's the one you turn on and then back away from the head to demagnetize. I still see those from time to time at the hamfests.
Thanks
Greg
