I had a roommate in college that majored in specifically that area - color
science. Auto Manufacturers know this problem very well and they spend big
$$ to try and make sure that the color -coordination of a car looks good
under all lighting.
My wife had her car hood repainted. In sunlight, it matched exactly,
Under Mercury vapor lights the red turned purple. Quite surprising the first
time we saw it.

Years ago, I was trying to match ivory floor and wall tile and fixtures for
my bathroom redo. I could get a perfect match in sunlight, but the same
tiles looked completely different under any of the roughly 20 fluorescents I
tried. I doubt things have improved. Now I know why most bathrooms are
white.
Google for the spectra of CFLs. They are all over the place.
