I'm using a ProJr instead of my bigger amps.
You can install a triode/pentode switch for more versatility.
Also some resistance in the B+ line to emulate power supply sag.


Buy a few decent 12AX7's.  Ignore Fender-branded or Fender-included.
I hear good things about Eurotubes (vendor) and JJ's.

you haven't lived til you saturate some output tubes.  I'm partial to 
EL84's.
