I knew this was gonna get a rise out of someone so don't make an argument
out of something you aren't aware of.
It doesn't make any difference where the tubes are made....grading of the
performance of the tube at audio frequencies makes all the difference in the
world.
Musicians may not know much or anything about the voo-voo world of
electronics but......they DO know what they hear when they play.....if there
was as you say "great deal of mythology grown up around tubes most of which 
has no basis in fact.".....then there would NOT be as you say " folks making
a great deal of 
money off of this."

You're just WRONG....and all the musicians reading this know it.
