[Boatanchors] Lettine 240 Transmitter Plug In Coils

Well I studied ways to restore the Lettine 240 today. I've come to the
conclusion it needs to be rewired and rebuilt with all new caps and
resistors. It's a rats nest under the chassis with beeswax caps, out of
tolerence IRC resistors, wrong parts, and no solder posts. The chassis is
gavenized steel and grounds are soldered directly to the chassis. Wires and
parts are connected hanging in mid air with no solder lugs. It looks like
this is the way the thing was manufactured. The parasitic supressor for the
807 plate is nothing but solid insulated hookup wire wound in a 12 turn coil
near the tube's plate cap. Not at all like a few turn coil wound around a 2
watt resistor as found elsewhere. I don't trust the bleeder resistors
either! Not when you have to stick your hand in there changing out band
coils! (I know about chicken sticks and have a couple here).

I sure wish I had a bottom photo of an original transmitter to use as a
giude. This reminds me of restoring a Hallicrafters SX-28A. One thing is
certain, they were not worried about lead length when they designed this
puppy! Layers of parts everywhere!
It's a great looking transmitter, but a WRL 40A makes this thing look poorly
constructed inside.
