This is a great thread!  Thanks Todd and John for your complimentary 
posts about NEAR-Fest.

What many people don't get the hamfest is not limited to the flea 
market.  It's a social event as well as an educational opportunity, 
bargain shopping for new equipment and just plain "mischigoss".  It 
makes us feel younger again and that's a good thing these days  It 
gives us something to look forward to every six months.

Someone once described NEAR-Fest as a party for three thousand of our 
closest friends.

Those of us who have been attending them for decades have seen the 
changes - and so many of the great ones are just memories.  NEAR-Fest 
is attempting to keep the culture of the full-featured hamfest alive.

Nest NEAR-Fest is April 29th and 30th 2011.  You are all invited.
