This thread is a hoot!
I think our next hamfest will have a TSA type smell screening, and a place
to take odorous visitors, tie 'em to a tree, and hose 'em down!
Seriously, I go to lots of hamfests and swapmeets, and have never noticed
anything like this. Here in the Southwest, though, most are outdoors!
Anyway, I'd rather smell a little BO than a cigar any time! To each his
own.
Of course, us hams, me included, are a unique bunch compared to the general
population, not to say weird! As always, we celebrate the diversity, and
have fun.
One more note, on the subject of clubs running hamfests to raise money. I
point to the Palm Springs event, put on by "RATS," that is held at a
member's ranch, with great facilities, parking, camaraderie, etc and no
charge!
Enjoy!

Ahhhh the wonderfull dollar box. I had 5-6 of them at my table a couple
years
back, your typical photocopier paper size. Near the end of the event I was
down
to just 1/2 a box. Guys with me teased me that I'd never get rid of the
rest.
I bet one of them $10.00 I would. One of the punters (guys who kick the box
to
see if anything better comes to the top) was there and I offered him the
whole
box and it's remains for $1.00 he said no others may want some stuff and I
then
offered to pay him him $2.00 to take it away. He smiled said really?, I
produced the $2 and he went away thinking I was daft. ( that could be
true) My
guys were laughing at me saying I paid to get the box gone. I replied "No I
just sold it for $8.00" and collected on my bet.
Probably related that before but getting a bit older so sometimes
it's almost
new to me
