Hi All,
Awhile back I mentioned that I'd managed to snag a NC-183 receiver from
a friend of mine. Oddly enough, this was one that I had recapped and
overhauled (including replacing most of the resistors too), but didn't
recall owning it myself (I recognized the work I'd done when I opened
her up).
It sure is a NICE SWL receiver and I'm using it more for that purpose
than my expensive Yaesu FT-2000 (which has a superb receiver in it).
While the normal (no Xtal filter in use) selectivity isn't as good, on
the rare occasions that I get one of those infamous 5KCs hets from an
adjacent station, engaging the Xtal filter and notching it out with the
phasing control is a breeze.
NOW, I'd like to get a regular National (or similar) Speaker for it (I'm using a small Jensen Speech-Master speaker). It seems that a week or two back somebody here was selling some National and Hallicrafters speakers as well as some others. It seemed that most were in the 70.00 dollar range and I didn't reply as my wallet was/is rather slim.
I want something of fairly good size (8" or so) and in reasonable
condition. In other words, speaker not damaged and sounds good, not run
over by a Mac truck etc. If the paint isn't perfect, that's OK so long
as the grill etc isn't trashed. While a National is my first choice (for
obvious reasons :) , a Halli one would be OK so long as it meets the
above criteria. Price IS a factor, please send price (including
shipping to 95348) with your reply.
Thank you.
