This is the best idea, however the problem here is you cant get enough 
people all wanting to build the same item.  If this was to be done, a semi 
clone of the Philmore NT-200 or the Ameco AC-1 (already kind of done), or a 
WW 2 Paraset would be my choices for this type project.  I did this myself 
on all three ideas.  Today, the Philmore idea with a couple improvements and 
certainly the Paraset project would fly.

"So here's a thought - I believe that with a little effort most folks
can find most "standard" parts at hamfests, internet, salvaged from
parts rigs, etc. How about a kit with just the "non-standard" parts
that are harder to find - pre-punched chassis & front panel, tank
coils, & what else? Kind of like getting the PC board for a QST
construction article. This approach avoids liability headaches for the
supplier, keeps the cost down, etc.
