[Boatanchors] Yaesu ATU-2 (Okay, maybe an anchor for a small dingy)

I have an opportunity to pick up one of these wee beasties for next to
nothing (a bit of trading is involved though) but cannot find any info
on them at all anywhere. I know they were used internally with
several of their rigs but that's it. If someone would be so kind as
to let me know how to hook this up for use with a non-Yaesu rig -
faking out what may need to be faked out in the process (My nickname,
or one of the polite ones, isn't Kludge for nothing!) - I should be
ever so grateful.

Also, a bit of theory ... the ATU-2 can match a range of 16-150 ohms
which isn't a whole lot of wide, though it's nice for electrically
short antennas. Is it reasonable to believe that a 4:1 or 9:1 balun
could be used on the output to stretch that range or are they
impedance limited over a narrow range?

Thank you.

BEst regards,

Michael, WH7HG
