Thanks to all, esp Ron, K2RP, with info and a nice photo and Rodger, WQ9E,
regarding Valiant variants and diff in the I and II versions. I was
positive I had a I (non II maybe?) due to color, but one never knows for
sure.
Reason I was inquiring was regarding the SSB position on the mode switch,
not sure if that was a determining factor, but guess not. Also posts
earlier about the Green -on- light and Red Plate light. There definitely
was a green -on- light on the Valiant I. I have one that was bought new in
1961, factory wired. I helped set it up for college radio club station,
WØFCU in Salina, KS. It is equipped with a Green jewel for -on- light. Is
a Model 240-104, S/N 31584. Still just like factory, except they replaced
the toggle on/off switch with a keyed switch when we put in service at the
club. (That may have been an option when ordered?)
I was very fortunate to be able to buy the station a couple years ago in a
fund raiser. Have not fired it up yet, but hope to do so in near future to
see if still "plays".
Thanks again all that replied.
Rod
