[Boatanchors] Is 4657 same animal as the 8072?

From 1979 through 1983 I owned and operated a Motorola authorized
service shop and bought many 8072 and other tubes. Always on the
lookout to improve the bottom line, I shopped other suppliers for any
stock I could. I did not find a "significant" difference in Motorola's
prices and other suppliers during those years. In fact compared to a
couple of suppliers, Motorola was actually cheaper. Also the parts
department of Motorola stocked parts such as tubes for older equipment
far longer than other suppliers in many cases.

I also spend nearly 10 years in Motorola's employment and can be a
witness to the company's desire to be number one. At our level the
company management did all it could to motivate and educate us on how to
win. I attended several company schools covering everything from sales
tactics to economics. It was a great company to work for in those
years, but sadly it has turned into a poor example of American
businesses today. I just wonder how much longer it will be around.
