I have an amplified D-104 (non-Eagle) I bought in a hobby shop CB
section in the late 90's. The construction quality is all-metal just
like an earlier one I have and seems to sound as good. The sound of
both is a little light on the low end for my Hallicrafters transmitters
but it complements the response curve of my Ranger which is slightly
modified for wider response in the voice amp.
I don't like the pedal in the base much because it seems interfere with
the action of the grip PTT making it flaky. I've adjusted it several
times but still have occasions when it'll drop out when gripping it.
Pushing the pedal restores it. The pedestal lever will always work. I
don't have any such problem with the older one with only the grip lever.
