[Boatanchors] I-82-A as antenna position indicator

A little bit off-topic, but this past week I was trouble-shooting an
antenna indicator. Turned out the 110 vac 60 cycle selsyn transmitter
had the rotor slip rings burn up, melting the shaft in the process.

I found a smaller unit and made up a short 5-wire test cable and
verified it would run the in-shack indicator okay. Modified the shaft
of the little guy so it would mate to the antenna drive gear and was back in
business.

I would gather your options are either to provide 400 Hz to run both selsyn,
or
swap out both 400 Hz units with 60 Hz?

Well John WA4WDL got me a schematic. Answers everything except voltage and
freq. I'm betting it is 28 V @ 400hz.

The actual drive selsyn is a Bendix AY-1. Turns out Fair in Lima, Oh has
them.

Found a box of selsyns, some 60 hz, a couple 400hz.

It would be great to put that I-82 into meaningful service.

I understand that 400 hz selsyns can be made to operate on 60hz. I'm sure at
very reduced ratings.
