[Boatanchors] Looking for Bendix info

Realize it's a long-shot, but I wonder if anyone knows anything about a
Bendix Communication System used in aircraft. It's from the era when
planes transmitted low-power AM in the HF range and received either on
HF or on the beacon band. The unit I picked up is labeled model 3801
Bendix Communications System (N. Hollywood CA), and consists of model
3103 Receiver and model 3006 Transmitter in a single housing. The
receiver tunes 2.5 to 6.5 mc plus 200-400 kc, and the transmitter has
three crystal positions, a built-in antenna tuner using a roller
inductor, 12KS7 oscillator driving a 1625 final. What I have is
basically the RF sections of the transmitter and receiver in a small
enclosure about 6" by 6" by 12". Receiver audio stages, BFO, (and maybe
more), plus the modulator and power supply was remotely mounted and of
course I didn't get that unit.

Looking for documentation of any kind, as it's going to take some
head-scratching to figure out the proper interconnections and functions
that were off-loaded to the remote unit. I'd appreciate any
suggestions as to where I might even look for information on old
aircraft radios, as this is the only one like this I've ever seen, and
web searches come up empty. Still, it would be fun to make it play on
80 meters some day.

I've uploaded some pics here in case anyone would care to take a look:

Thanks and 73,
