Go to Radio Shack and purchase 2 6.3 volt filament transformers. Hook the primary of 1 to the AC line. Then hook the filament windings together and run the heater ("filament") of the 6AU6 from this junction. Finally, use a half-wave rectifier from the "other" primary winding for the B+.

I have done this many times over the years when I needed about 150 VDC.

I need to build a power supply for a VFO - like a VF-1.  I have not done this in years, although I remember how.  My junk drawer is not heavy with transformers and chokes.  No pun intended.  Where do you find these things easily... Ebay?  Antique Electronics?  Suplus Sales of Nebraska?
