Well, I don't totally disagree. Getting up on 10 meters was the PC
buzzword in the late 40's and 50's. Closely followed by getting on 2-Meters. But
the components that would have made most of the radios simply plug-n-play,
except for 10-Meters, (and with generally better performance than after most
of the mods) were available for next to nothing because they were plentiful
and no one was buying them. There were rectifier power supplies and a
plug-on local control available for the BC-624 & 625 (erroneously called the
SCR-522 in all of the conversion books) that would get you on 2-Meters as soon as
you could put up an antenna. But none of the conversion books ever show or
even mention them. Probably because they would have eliminated the need
for the conversion books. :-)
