A number of the ":conversions" were needed because people could not be
bothered to read the damn manuals on how to operate the sets.

Case in point:  people tried to operate the WS 19 by connecting the output
of the variometer to a 50 Ohm antenna and gave the set a reputation for
TVI. Used properly, the Variometer - antenna capacitance tank gets rid of
the issue.

I don't give slack to people undeservedly. IMO, you have to UNDERSTAND
what you're doing BEFORE leading others.
