The Key-All is THE way to go.  As mentioned, you'll stand a good  chance of 
welding reed relay contacts shut (jpersonal experience here).  If  you're 
going to use an electronic keyer, simply mount that little Key All  circuit 
board in the keyer and you'll be able to to key any rig without  worry.  Use 
the sidetone from the keyer and you won't need to listen to  your 
transmitted signal in your receiver.  Then you'll be able to bypass  the VFO keying 
for a more chirp free signal (which is what I suspect was your  goal to begin 
with).
 
Jackson Harbor also has several keyer kits that can be ordered with the  
Key-All circuit on the keyer board.
