[Boatanchors] Mouser Order

Like Jerry, I usually order a lot at a time from Mouser and my typical order is over $200 several times a year. If I need something non-standard and in a hurry (usually a solid state device or a special light bulb) I can generally find some standard items I am running short of to add to the current order. I have a couple of parts cabinets set up with standard value 1/2 watt resistors, popular values of various types of capacitors, fuses, rectifiers, and other passive devices and it only takes a few minutes to glance through and see what needs to be ordered before it runs out.
I have used the USPS option a couple of times when I just needed a replacement transistor but even with USPS the shipping was more than the item so I try to avoid these small orders.

Most people "batch" their Mouser orders, accumulating a list until they
have enough to make shipping worthwhile. No offense intended, but at $3
a gallon plus the time involved it doesn't seem very reasonable to
expect someone to go to Mouser's warehouse and get a single item,
package it, and take it to the post office for you.
OTOH, if you need the parts quickly, just bite the bullet and pay the
price--and vow to plan better next time.
Happy Thanksgiving,
