A narrow color spectrum can help or hurt.
Because fresh beef is not red but we expect it to be red, butchers can
buy special lights for their display cases that make the bluish beef
appear red.
Years ago I lost my very red car in a parking lot at night. The lot was
lighted with low pressure sodium lights. Low pressure sodium lights
have little or no red component, so there was nothing to reflect back
from my red car. It appeared maroon as I stood beside it. I wondered
at this car which was exactly as mine except that it was maroon. This
was before key-less remotes and, finally, I tried the key in the door
and it worked. Admittedly, alcohol was involved, but the illustration
is still fair.
