Memorial Day was established in May 1868 by the Commander in Chief of the Grand Army of the Republic (the GAR was an organization of veterans who had served in the Union forces during the American Civil War - Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Revenue Cutter Service - now the United States Coast Guard).

The summer session has started here on the east coast.  In two days we will as a Nation celebrate Memorial Day. My Family and I will be taking part in services Monday to Honor All those who have Served and Who are serving now. I would like to ask all those on the Reflector that over this Holiday Weekend if you see a Veteran or Active Military Personal take a moment to shake His or Her hand and Thank Them.  As many of you know My Wife and I have two Sons who are Active Military. One is currently forward Deployed and the other will be shortly.  They are part of a proud family line, like there Grandfather, and there Father they Stood, Took an Oath to Protect This great Nation against Any and All who threaten it.  So let us not forget what we have and those who fought so we may have it. Please “Remember Them Always “
