Speaking of the AN/URM-25, I bought a counter to sit on top of and use with 
my URM-25H, and found a problem similar to what you may have run into with 
the IG-42 (not enough output to drive the counter).  A rather simple and 
reversible mod to the SG fixed that.  I now use the direct high level output 
jack to run the counter, making it independent of the attenuator.
